Rare Visitor to Our Lake
This morning we were looking out at the lake in Doug and Matt's community, when this fellow appeared. Matt said they had never seen the likes of him/her here before. After checking, we identified it as a Wood Stork, which is an endangered species. Norm and I saw one at the Ding Darling refuge on Sanibel Island a few years ago.

Wood storks are almost 4 feet long and have a wing span of up to 5 feet. Contrast it with the much smaller White Ibis, at 2 feet. Shortly after I took these photos, both birds flew away.
