Yesterday afternoon Norm and I went to the Missouri Botanical Garden to see the annual Orchid Show (subject of the next blog to come) and eat lunch at Sassafras, the green cafe at the garden. As we headed for the parking lot about 4:45 p.m., we looked up at the cloud formations racing overhead.
Mare's tails is one name for these. They are usually a sign of approach- ing bad weather after a spell of clear skies. Well, the clear sky lasted one whole day! We woke up this morning to light snow, that became steadier as the day wore on. It is still snowing and we will get about 2-3 inches here in the metro area. Then it is supposed to be colder than normal for about the next week. So I'm planning to take us all on a virtual trip to the tropics...orchids and other flowers from the garden, plus a visit to a refuge in Florida that I never got posted last fall.

Looking forward to the tropics. We've had quite a bit of snow lately. I don't mind it if it gets me a snow day, but the only snow day we got was on a Friday when I don't work anyway. Oh well, the moisture is always good (spoken like a person from western Kansas).
